Captain Clement holds a U.S. Coast Guard Master, unlimited tonnage, oceans license and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Transportation from Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Captain Clement has been teaching at Northeast Maritime Institute for three years in a part-time capacity. Captain Clement is also a Paramedic and Firefighter with the Somerset Fire Department.

Captain John Christensen is a recently retired Commander in the U.S. Coast Guard, serving for over 22 years in various positions. He is also a graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy’s Marine Transportation program and holds a Master less than 1600 gross tons, Oceans and Second Mate Unlimited Oceans license. Captain Christensen has previously taught at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and has served onboard a number of U.S. Coast Guard Cutters as Commanding and Executive Officer. Captain Christensen brings his extensive maritime background to the program starting Fall 2022.

Captain Morgan Dawicki holds a Master 100 Gross Tons. Near Coastal with Sail Endorsement. He has had more than 13 years of experience on the water, with emphasis on Tall Ship sailing, seamanship and systems engineering. He was the youngest licensed tall ship Captain in 2015. Captain Dawicki spent a year in Tabor Academy’s Nautical Science department as a teaching fellow from 2018 to 2019. Captain Dawicki joined the faculty of the Nautical Science program in 2022 and will be teaching Introduction to Nautical Science, Navigation Rules and Marine Engineering.

Captain Lynch teaches the Bridge Resource Management Course in the Applied Nautical Science program, and has been an active instructor in the Continuing Education Division of the Institute for over ten years. Captain Lynch holds an Associate in Applied Science in Nautical Science Technology from the Seafarers Harry Lundberg School of Seamanship and has over 23 years of sea experience as a Mate and Captain in the maritime industry. Captain Lynch holds a Master on vessels up to 1600 gross tons, oceans from the U.S. Coast Guard.

Commander (Ret) Daniel Owen joins the faculty of the Nautical Science program starting Fall 2022. He holds a Bachelors Degree from James Madison University and two Master’s Degrees from Seattle University and the Naval War College in Newport, RI. Commander Owen spent over 19 years in the U.S. Coast Guard with numerous shipboard officer and leadership roles as well as serving as the Director of Training and Operations for the Pacific Northwest Fleet. Commander Owens brings a strong history of dedicated service and commitment and maritime and shipboard experience. He will be teaching the Marine Meteorology course.

Michael Dyer currently serves as the Curator of Maritime History at the New Bedford Whaling Museum, a position he has held for 9 years, previously serving as a Maritime Curator and Librarian there for 12 years. Mr. Dyer holds a Master of Arts in American Studies from Pennsylvania State University and a Bachelor of Arts in American History from York College of Pennsylvania. Mr. Dyer has published numerous books, book chapters, articles and publications on American Maritime History and has curated a number of exhibitions at the New Bedford Whaling Museum. Mr. Dyer was a Lecturer at the University of Chile in Santiago in 2016.
