Well-Being and Counseling

NMI Faculty, Staff and Administration are committed to the well-being of our students. A benefit of being a small school, we are able to connect with every student and offer support and guidance as needed. You are not just a number at NMI, you become an important member of the NMI family and community.

We are able to do this in a number of ways:

  • Daily weekday morning meetings serve to foster and reinforce a sense of belonging and community. There is dedicated and regular communication among faculty, CAO, and Student Support Services to discuss and address the needs and successes of students. The purpose is to model and improve communication, maintain student focus, take attendance, improve morale, and interpret the daily weather.
  • NMI Faculty make themselves available to students outside of class to offer guidance and answer questions.
  • Student advising includes a focus on physical and emotional health and NMI staff and faculty can help students find counselors, doctors, urgent care centers, health clinics and financial assistance. Transportation to appointments can also be arranged by NMI.
